“In 2017 I walked the entire length of the Old Annapolis Road, a historic settlement road that ruins through the centre of Nova Scotia between Halifax and Annapolis Royal. One of my favourite stretches was just west of Halifax on either side of the Ingram River. It has some fine mature forests with some of the oldest trees in Nova Scotia and some fascinating ruins: old homesteads, logging camps, abutments of the 1820s bridges. Sadly all of these features are under threat from increased clearcutting. Here a few photos of my hike along this historic road. There are proposals to preserve this area and you can have your say in how this area should be preserved https://novascotia.ca/natr/consultation/ingram-river.asp until November 22.”
