Wilf Creighton, Deputy Minister of Lands and Forests from 1949 to 1969 at a lecture (“Whither the forests of Nova Scotia?”) at Dalhousie given by Prof Peter Duinker (in background) on Oct 26, 2006. W.D. was 102 at the time; he was quite outspoken at this lecture. I recall him saying that during his tenure they had estimated the sustainable yield of wood as 2.4 million (or thereabouts; it may have been 2.6) cubic meters; the actual harvests more than doubled that number in the years after W.D.’s tenure at Lands and Forests
